The waterjet has a delicate structure, where pressurized saline is sprayed out through a tiny nozzle, creating a cavitating water jet in a liquid-filled environment within the human body. The water jet flows at near-sonic speed, and the bubble clusters, which have a disruptive effect, strike and cut through soft tissue at high velocity in the liquid environment.
The robotic-controlled ultrasound system automatically captures multi-plane images to help the surgeon establish a three-dimensional surgical plan. The water jet robotic system can precisely control the length of the cavitating water jet, thereby adjusting the depth of tissue removal.
The intelligent water jet control method, combined with robotic navigation technology, enables prostatic tissue removal surgery that adapts to the individual shapes of different prostates. During prostate hyperplasia surgery, protecting important anatomical structures such as the bladder neck, verumontanum zone, external sphincter, capsule, and erectile nerves is crucial. Unlike traditional thermal resection techniques, the robot uses high-pressure water jets as a resecting tool, maintaining an isothermal temperature with the human body, fundamentally preventing thermal damage to the patient.
