Global Exchange | Professor Meng Yisen Provides an In-Depth Analysis of Robotic System Technology at the Belt and Road Urological Minimally Invasive Treatment Training Program

From September 11 to September 14, the Urological Minimally Invasive Diagnosis and Treatment Training Program, initiated by Beijing Hospital, was successfully held in Beijing. The event brought together urology specialists and international distributors from leading hospitals worldwide to exchange insights on the latest applications of minimally invasive urological technologies. On September 12, Professor Meng Yisen from the Department of Urology at Peking University First Hospital delivered a keynote presentation, offering an in-depth overview of the technological breakthroughs and clinical value of the domestically developed metaFlow® Image-Guided Robotic System in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Professor Meng Yisen: Automated Image-Guided Waterjet Robotic Procedure for BPH

Addressing Clinical Needs: The Innovation Behind Robotic System Technology

As a leading expert in minimally invasive urology in China, Professor Meng Yisen drew upon his extensive clinical experience to systematically examine the limitations of conventional BPH surgical procedures and the transformative impact of Robotic System technology. He noted that while existing surgical approaches are widely used in clinical practice, they often require trade-offs between preserving patient function and achieving long-term durability. The metaFlow® Robotic System, through its unique combination of image guidance and athermal tissue resection, directly addresses this long-standing clinical challenge.

As a participant in multicenter clinical studies, Professor Meng presented clinical outcomes from Peking University First Hospital, demonstrating the significant advantages of the Robotic System in clinical practice. Patients experienced substantial improvements in urinary function after surgery, while urinary continence and sexual function were effectively preserved. These benefits make the technology particularly suitable for elderly patients who require higher standards of surgical safety. He emphasized that through precise tissue resection and its minimally invasive nature, the technology significantly reduces the risk of complications commonly associated with traditional procedures, relieving obstruction while preserving normal prostate function.

Global Perspective: International Interest and Cross-Border Clinical Dialogue

Participants in the training program came primarily from countries along the Belt and Road Initiative, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, the Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Healthcare professionals from these nations gathered to learn about and discuss China's most advanced innovations in urological care. Participants actively engaged in discussions regarding the practical application of the metaFlow® Robotic System, demonstrating strong interest in its technological features and clinical benefits.
